Nearly 6 million Palestinian refugees are registered for United Nations services

Palestinians displaced in 1948, as well as descendants of Palestinian male refugees and adopted children, are eligible for support from UNRWA, the United Nations agency set up to support Palestinian refugees.

Note: Data as of Q2 2024. The United Nations defines Palestinian refugees as “persons whose normal place of residence was Palestine during the period June 1, 1946 to May 15, 1948, and who lost both home and means of livelihood as a result of the 1948 conflict.”
