See how regularly radio, radar and frequency outages or issues appear in FAA advisories

Communications outages or issues were reported on almost half of all days in the past 12 months, according to a CNN analysis of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advisories. The advisories include few specific details, so it's unclear how serious these problems were, although some led to ground stops or delays.

Note: CNN reviewed FAA flight advisories from May 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025, and filtered for any alerts with communications-related phrases including: “radar outage,” “frequency outage,” or “radio outage;” and "radar issues," "radio issues," or "frequency issues."
