Firefighters were called to the Wang Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po at 2:51 p.m. local time (1:51 a.m. ET) where bamboo scaffolding was alight with the fire spreading to nearby towers. The housing estate consists of eight towers with 1,984 apartments where 4,643 people lived, according to the latest census data (2021).
