Tibetan regions in China

In addition to the provincial-level Tibet Autonomous Region, the Chinese government has designated areas in surrounding provinces as Tibetan autonomous prefectures or counties. These areas are home to many Tibetans and often considered parts of historical Tibet. Those prefectures include Garzê, Sichuan, where Cheogyal Dawa's home county of Drago, is located.

Note: Garzê is also known as Kardze among Tibetans and Ganzi in Chinese.
