How the partisan makeup of the Senate has changed in 100 years

Kansas is unique in having only Republican senators for nearly 100 years. Thirty states have had a senator from both parties since 2000.

Note: In cases where more than two senators served in a session, the chart reflects the party mix of all senators who served.
